About Us

We are a small, family breeder located on Titus mountain in Malone, New York. Our goal is to produce quality golden retrievers with good health and exceptional temperaments. Our dogs receive daily exercise in the fresh mountain air. The Studley Hill Goldens are working dogs, participating daily in Animal-Assisted Therapy at a local University Health Center and the greater North Country community. Golden retrievers are known for their kind, gentle nature and they are excellent companions for children. They have a very loving nature and want nothing more than to please you!

At Studley Hill Goldens, we evaluate our dogs in several key areas prior to acceptance in our breeding program. Foremost, we select our dogs based on health traits. Our goldens undergo genetic testing through Embark DNA testing. This helps to screen for congenital diseases and remove problematic traits from our breeding line. Our dogs also undergo additional testing through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). The OFA is an organization dedicated to researching and preventing orthopedic and hereditary diseases in companion animals. Although OFA and Embark testing do not necessarily “ensure” a perfectly healthy puppy, they do help us to reduce the risk of unwanted traits and dangerous health conditions among our puppies. This is why health testing is so important to us: to provide your family with a healthy and happy companion! We strive to better the breed through use of the COI (coefficient of inbreeding), the measure of genetic overlap in the mother’s and father’s lines. At Studley Hill Goldens, we take pride in our dogs’ mental, physical and social health.

Our puppies receive early neurologic stimulation in a loving, engaging home environment. We provide comprehensive socialization utilizing new sounds, scents, settings and textures. Puppies that are well-rounded make for lasting companions, service dogs, and working dogs.
